LT (Hunt 1995/SPR 4: 80): Moore, l.c., fig. 3, based on a living plant raised at Tooting, England, by W Buckley (S. russelliana x S. truncata). Distr: Definitely known only in cultivation, but possibly spontaneous where the parental species are native.

Branch segments flattened, oblong or obovate, truncate, 2-4.5 x 1.3-2.5 cm, obliquely crenate; areoles apical and marginal, in the notches between the crenations; flowers slightly zygomorphic, 5.5-6.5 x 3-4 cm; pericarp ribbed; hypanthium 3-4 cm; perianth somewhat oblique; tepals spreading to recurving; stamens and style long-exserted; stigma purple.
